Finn and Kai first met in college at Jersey City State University in 2014. Finn first caught Kai’s eye in the Student Union during freshman orientation. He was too nervous to approach her at first, but later that day, mustered up some courage and said: "Hi-dee!"—mixing up "hi" and "howdy". Fortunately, Kai thought this was not adorable at all and even though it was not a turn on, the rest is history.  

During college, Finn and Kai traveled extensively backpacking through Europe during their semester in Italy. One of their favorite memories is trying a new gelato place almost every day while visiting Rome. 

Finn proposed to Kai a few months after college graduation by renting out a movie theater. Kai thought she was seeing a screening of her favorite film, The Lion King, but Finn had created a slideshow of photos from throughout their relationship which was playing on the movie screen. Needless to say, Kai said yes (and they did end up watching The Lion King!).
